Hasta la vista, steroids

By Paul Fitzgerald

Arnold Schwarzenegger has never made it a secret that he once used steroids.

The actor, politician, businessman, investor, former professional bodybuilder, and seven-time Mr. Olympia winner says however that athletes and body builders should stay far away from drugs and stick to more natural approaches when it comes to improving their performance.

Schwarzenegger indicates that back in his day steroids were a new thing and it was an experimental movement where he, like many others, went to the doctor to take performance enhancing drugs.

“We were experimenting with it. It was a new thing,” says Schwarzenegger. And while he can’t turn the clock back and say, “Now I would change my mind on this,” the celebrity and well-known business tycoon does not encourage anyone to use drugs.

Using steroids sends the “wrong message,” and it’s downright wrong, he says. With this, Schwarzenegger is now encouraging athletes from all walks of life to seek out natural performance enhancers as it’s a wise and healthy move.

His staunch commitment to a drug free sports world is being heard loud and clear.

And it comes as no surprise why a new sport orthotic is set to be featured at his upcoming event, The 2014 Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, OH.

Called the New Age Performance Mouthpiece, this new technological marvel is a proven natural sports enhancer for amateur and professional athletes as well as recreational enthusiasts in the USA, Canada and beyond.

This is the first time ever a mouthpiece of this kind is being highlighted at the Arnold Show.

They are based out of Mississauga, ON, and the company gladly accepted the opportunity to attend the huge four day event that boasts 700 booths of the latest in sports equipment, apparel and nutrition and a stage that hosts unique, non-stop competitions and entertainment. This year’s event is expected to attract nearly 200,000 attendees.

“It’s truly an honour to be participating at the 2014 Arnold Sports Festival,” says Rob Charlton, co-owner of the company. “We are elated with the news that our new device is being featured at the big show and we have a team in place that will demonstrate to the world the benefits of our invention.”

What makes this new technological marvel so unique is that it’s not your average mouthpiece. The device is placed on the back of your lower teeth. Once it’s locked in, your jaw alignment is more structurally sound. Years of research has proven that when your jaw is properly aligned, then your body is more able to reach its peak performance. Most of the population has a bite issue, so this new technology is a breakthrough on many levels.

Rutgers University recently released a research paper on proper jaw alignment and concluded it has a definite positive impact on athletic performance.

The co-inventor is Dr. Anil Makkar, a well-known neuromuscular dentist who has studied jaw alignment techniques at the esteemed Las Vegas Institute (LVI) for Advanced Dental Studies.

“There are literally thousands of people who are utilizing our new invention so that they can get that extra advantage they need for true achievement,” says Dr. Makkar.

No matter if you are on the front lines, in the trenches, looking to excel in your sport, or trying to get your best work out, this device is cutting-edge on every level and is proving to be the newest and best technological mouthpiece going on the market.

Dr. Makkar states, “There have been a lot of scientific studies on performance mouthpieces and jaw alignment dating back to the 1950s. Several research and scientific papers have clearly stated that when one’s bite is in the correct position, the alignment of your body is also affected in a positive way. Our new device, worn on the lower teeth, will allow everyone to experience immediate results with balance, increased strength, and flexibility.”

“The invention is all about speed, strength, skill and precision, and there’s that moment it all comes together,” adds Dr. Makkar.

Dr. Michael Firouzian, who owns and operates the Center for Family and Cosmetic Dentistry in Columbus, is now offering the device to athletes in the area. He will also be in attendance at the upcoming show.

“Our mouthpiece goes over your lower teeth and when you actually bite into it, it instantly aligns your jaw and instantaneously you have better balance,” says Dr. Firouzian. “Having better balance opens the door to increased strength and stability. What athlete doesn’t want that? What fitness person doesn’t want that? And what’s so amazing is that it’s all about a little mouthpiece that makes an amazing amount of difference.”

Joining the team at this year’s Arnold Sports Festival is Jill Bunny, owner of Team Bunny. She is a leading Competition Coach and CBBF National bikini competitor and fitness model based out of Oakville, ON.

She is a big believer in the device. “I admit I was quite skeptical when I first heard about this new invention” she says. “But I gave it a try and I am blown away with the results. I use the mouthpiece religiously as it my strength, balance and range of motion is greatly improved.”

Peter Czerwinski, known as the popular ‘Furious Pete,’ who once battled against anorexia and was hospitalized at the Toronto Sick Kids Hospital and recovered through bodybuilding, will also be on hand at the show to educate athletes.

He’s now a big believer in the technology behind the invention.

“This is where science meets sport,” he says. Once you use the mouthpiece there is no going back. You reach peak performance with it and there’s no other on the market like it.”

There’s no doubt about it, this small mouthpiece will be a big hit at the festival, especially with the all the recent controversy these days surrounding popular athletes getting caught and being punished for using steroids, including Alex Rodriguez (nicknamed "A-Rod”), Barry Bond and Lance Armstrong, to name a few.
